About The Speaker
Kevin Johnson believes there is undiscovered power in partnerships among nonprofits, the public sector and passionate supporters. He works with visionary leaders to help them get the resources, and build the connections, they need to lead. He began work in the legacy and planned gift world in the 1990s with The Nature Conservancy. He founded his consulting company in 1998 and has helped many organizations around the country build a stream of current and future income using legacy gifts.
Kevin is the principal of Retriever Development, www.RetrieverDevelopment.com. In recent years, he helped to shape and guide more than 96 strategic and development projects on behalf of a range of education, social, and conservation causes throughout the US and Canada. These projects attracted local and national leaders and well over a hundred and twenty million dollars in direct support.
He is the author of The Power of Legacy and Planned Gifts: How Nonprofits and Donors Work Together to Change the World, published by Jossey-Bass/Wiley. The book was endorsed by Bill Gates, Sr.
