About The Speaker

Dr. Sydney Snyder is a dedicated educator and advocate for English Language Learners (ELLs). She has over 20 years experience teaching ELLs and working with teachers to improve ELLs' academic success. Dr. Snyder is committed to developing and sharing strategies and materials that support ELLs' language acquisition and access to grade-level content-material. Some of her most recent work includes:

  • Senior Associate with DSF Consulting, a small business specializing in ELL achievement that works with a variety of local, state and federal organizations including the Illinois State Board of Education, Massachusetts Department of Education, National Education Association, New York State Department of Education, and the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Consortium.
  • K-12 ESL Resource Teacher for Falls Church City public schools providing training and support for district ESOL teachers, collecting and reporting on student achievement data, writing curriculum, and serving on the School Board ESOL Advisory Committee
